This 4-day
adventure is perfect for trekkers seeking a peaceful and scenic mountain experience with excellent
acclimatization for Kilimanjaro or as a stand-alone challenge.
Depart from Arusha and drive to Momella Gate for registration. Begin your trek through lush rainforest
teeming with wildlife and birdlife. After approximately 4 hours of hiking, arrive at Miriakamba Hut
(2,500m) for overnight camping amid stunning surroundings.
Trek through dense bamboo forests and moorlands, gradually gaining altitude. Enjoy panoramic views of
the Ngurdoto Crater and Mount Kilimanjaro. Reach the Saddle Hut, nestled between Mount Meru’s two
peaks, where you rest and prepare for the summit push.
A pre-dawn start leads you to the summit, rewarding your effort with breathtaking sunrise views across
Kilimanjaro and the Rift Valley. After summit celebrations, descend back to Miriakamba Hut for a well-
earned rest.
Complete the descent through the forest to Momella Gate, where a vehicle awaits to transfer you back to
Arusha. Reflect on your remarkable journey through Tanzania’s scenic wilderness.
The 4-day trek offers a more gradual ascent with better acclimatization and a slightly more relaxed pace. It includes an extra night at Miriakamba Hut, giving your body more time to adjust to altitude before summit day.
Trekkers stay in basic mountain huts at Miriakamba and Saddle Huts. These are dormitory-style with bunk beds and shared facilities—simple but comfortable enough for the trek.
Yes. Arusha National Park requires all trekkers to be accompanied by an armed park ranger (due to wildlife) and a licensed mountain guide. These are included in most trek packages.
The best months are January to early March and June to October, during the dry seasons. Trails are clearer, views are better, and summit conditions are more favorable.
Absolutely. It’s ideal for acclimatization, involves similar terrain and altitude gains, and builds your stamina. Many climbers use it as a warm-up before attempting Kilimanjaro.
