Destination: Tarangire National Park & Ngorongoro Crater
Your journey begins with an early morning pickup from your Arusha hotel, followed by a
scenic drive to Tarangire National Park. Famous for its dense elephant population, ancient
baobab trees, and seasonal swamps, Tarangire is a photographer’s paradise. Enjoy a full-day
game drive, with picnic lunch under the trees, as you look out for lions, giraffes, zebras, and
more. As the sun begins to dip, you'll head to your midrange lodge or tented camp in Karatu
for dinner and a restful night.
After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
teeming with wildlife. The Crater floor is home to a high concentration of animals, including
black rhinos, hippos, wildebeest, and even elusive leopards. Spend the morning on a game
drive through its diverse ecosystems, from grassland to forest and lake shores. Following a
picnic lunch near a hippo pool, begin the return drive to Arusha, arriving by early evening,
marking the end of your whirlwind safari.
The package typically includes park entry fees, game drives, transport in a 4x4 vehicle with a pop-up roof, a professional guide, all meals, drinking water, and one night in a midrange lodge or tented camp.
You’ll stay in a comfortable lodge or tented camp with en-suite facilities. It’s a step up from basic camping, offering hot showers, real beds, and good food, all in or near the parks.
It’s fast-paced, but well-planned. You’ll cover a lot in a short time, including a full game drive in Tarangire and a crater tour in Ngorongoro. It’s ideal if you’re short on time but still want a rewarding safari experience.
Group sizes vary but are usually small 4 to 7 people per vehicle. Private safaris can also be arranged at a higher cost.
You’ll likely see elephants, lions, zebras, wildebeest, giraffes, and hippos. The Ngorongoro Crater also offers a good chance of spotting rhinos, hyenas, and possibly leopards.
